The Swiss - Italian shipowner has asked of becoming for the second terminal operator of the Calabrian call, where today Contship operates only.
MSC wants to break the monopoly of Contship Italy in the rich port of Joy Tauro and has presented an enterprise plan to manage an own terminal container, according to all that the agency Handle brings back. The society of Aponte has asked in concession for the new under construction quays, more other spaces that might be freed. On the whole, the area spreads on 240mila square metres and includes 640 metres of pier. The Aponte plan foresees an investment to Joy Tauro for 65 million Euro. The terminal would use 200 persons and would have an ability of a million of teu the year, which would be added to the traffic at present managed by Contship (equal to about 3,5 million teu). We remember that MSC is a member of minority of the same Contship in the terminal container of The Spezia.
